What is an eating disorder ? Mention its types and explain each

Eating disorder is a condition in which either an individual eats a lot or in very meager amount. Eating
disorder is a type of mental illness which is responsible for disorder in a person’s habitual diet. In case
of eating disorders, individuals eat an extremely small amount of food or they start overeating. There
are two types of eating disorders. They are –Anorexia Nervosa and Bulimia Nervosa.
Anorexia Nervosa : Anorexia Nervosa is a type of eating disorder that affects women and men of all ages.
The individuals who suffer from anorexia nervosa desire to lose weight because of the fear of gaining
weight. Such people limit their food intake and can become dangerously thin.
Bulimia Nervosa : Bulimia nervosa, commonly called bulmia, is a serious, potentially life-threatening
eating disorder. Its a severe mental illness that can go undetected for a long time a person eats in excess
and then vomits with a view to not gaining weight. A man suffering from this disorder develops a habit of
eating in excess first and vomits. Various methods are used for vomiting. Some people use laxatives also
to avoid being obese.
