Illustrate the differences between Isokinetic and Isometric exercises.

Isokinetic Exercises
(i)
(ii)
Iso-kinetic exercises are performed on specially designed machines.
These exercises involve a specific type of muscle contraction which is usually not applicable in
sports and games except in water-sports like rowing and swimming.
(iii) In Isokinetic exercises contraction of muscle applies maximum force throughout the complete
range of movement.
Isometric Exercises
(i) Iso-metric exercises are those exercises in which movement of muscle are not visible. There are no
direct movements and hence they cannot be observed.
In these exercises work done is considered to be zero. A group of muscles carry out tension against
the other group of muscles.
(ii)
(iii) When these exercises are done, muscles do not change their length and remain fixed or constant
although muscles do not remain constant or still completely
